AAIDD-LA Announces 2023 Louisiana Historic Recognition Project Award Winners!

To ensure that the contributions of Louisianans in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) was preserved, the Louisiana Century Recognition Project identified and honored 25+ people whose efforts broadly affected people with IDD in Louisiana, and the field as a whole.  The project culminated with awards, a ceremony at the AAIDD-LA Annual Meeting in 1999, and a commemorative booklet highlighting their contributions.

It's been 20 years since those recognitions were made at the century mark.  In 2023, the Awards Committee reviewed the contributions of individuals who have significantly impacted and/or contributed to the field of disabilities in Louisiana during the period of 2000-2020 in terms of research, practice, policy, family advocacy, and/or self-advocacy.

AAIDD-LA was proud to recognize and honor the 2000-2022 Honorees.  A reception was held during the 2023 AAIDD-LA Annual Meeting and Conference where these individuals, and their achievements, were highlighted.
