Assessment and Diagnosis for Individuals with IDD
Presented By: Dr. Mark J. Garcia, OCDD
This presentation is designed to address the core considerations for assessment and diagnostic of individuals with IDD. The goal is to focus on the nuanced considerations that lead to a successful assessment and diagnosis when there is co-occurring mental and or behavioral health challenges. This presentation will focus on the assessment process including a look at assessment goals, best practices, considering adaptions for the most common diagnostic categories, a review of relevant genetic conditions, and then culminating in putting it all together in a biopsychosocial developmental model. Clinical considerations and use of provided tools will also be discussed.
